Employers and Recruiters Using Social Media
Jobvite has surveyed hundreds of HR and recruiting professionals to produce their Social Recruiting Survey 2010 with results showing 83% are using or plan to use social media for recruiting. Of those with plans to hire in 2010, 93% currently use or plan to recruit via social networks; 86% using Linkedin, 60% are using Facebook and 50% use Twitter.
It is easy to understand why HR and recruiting professionals are using social media as a resource when you see the number of users on the top three sites; Facebook with approximately 500 million, Twitter 100 million and Linkedin with over 70 million! To put this in perspective, the population of Canada is only 34 million and there are only two countries in the world with a population greater than that of Facebook!
Further results from the Jobvite survey are contained in the following charts:

Having that kind of focus will be better for them in the long run.
