Another point is to have your own email address. I&#039;m surprised how many people share email addresses with spouses, children and heaven knows who else.

I even recommend getting a private phone number for the job search - a phone only *you* will answer - and don&#039;t depend on anyone to take messages. Use a reliable voice mail system or even a machine that only you can reach. 

I&#039;m sure every career consultant has heard horror stories of phones that were answered by children or messages lost by teenagers and visiting in-laws.</description>
