If so, you are in high demand! According to an article in the Financial Post, aerospace companies reported strong growth in the past year, even setting records, as global demand for the next generation of airliners and business jets remains strong.
The jobs in highest demand include aircraft and avionics maintenance specialists, assemblers, mechanics, painters and composite specialists.
Centennial College’s Toronto campus reported receiving 954 applications for 180 available seats in its aircraft maintenance and avionics maintenance diploma programs. And 136, rather than the typically accepted 15 to 20 international applications were received from countries such as India and China.
Michelle DeCoste, Dean of the School of Continuing Education and Industry Training said, “Part of the reason people are attracted to skilled trades in aerospace is because the jobs are highly transferable and mobile to other industries and countries.”
