Employers Don’t respond After I’ve Applied For A Job! Why?

Today’s post is on the topic of the frustration one feels when they don’t get a reply after submitting their resume when they feel they are the perfect candidate.

Employers dont resond after ive applied for a job

That is not uncommon. I’ve lost count of how many times a day people tell me that.  As a career management practitioner, I know it’s very frustrating. For each job you apply for, there are hundreds, if not thousands of applicants. So, when the job closes, they do their assessment. They look at all the resumes. They look at all the cover letters, they do the assessment, and then they start calling who they think of as top applicants.

Competition Can Be Fierce

You don’t know what that competition is like.  It can be fierce in today’s economy when we are in a recession, but even in good times, it is fierce. They only call about 30 to 40 and a maximum of 50 to do the original screening interview. After that, they call for the interview, the actual zoom interview or in-person interview.  I would say they’re only going to interview 15 at most of all of the resumes that were submitted. It’s just not feasible, call everybody and tell them, or even email them that you aren’t the perfect candidate.

Don’t Give Up

So don’t be disheartened. Continue applying, continue networking, advance your job search. Remember searching for a job is a full-time gig. Now you understand why they don’t call you or you receive no notification, not even an email, why you weren’t accepted into the candidate’s pool.
