Reenergize Over the Summer to Increase Your Productivity

July 16, 2019 by Martin Buckland Leave a Comment

The summer season offers a much-needed respite from the monotony of day-to-day business life. That is, if you allow it too. It’s a great time to reenergize in order to increase your productivity.

Reenergize Over the Summer to Increase Your Productivity

One of the biggest mistakes you can make during the summer, is not taking advantage of the nice, warm weather. Neglecting to do so results in feelings of monotony and burnout.

Instead, take advantage of the summer season to get outdoors and get some fresh air. By doing so, you give yourself the gift of time to reenergize and increase your productivity in the office.

Tips to reenergize this summer:

Take Your Vacation Time

Do you have a lot of built up vacation time? Now is the time to use it. You can plan a trip to a place you have been longing to visit for a long time or you can plan a staycation enjoying new activities. The most important point is to take your vacation time—even if it is only a few days—to focus on yourself, your family, and your friends.

Vacation time allows you to mentally separate yourself from the office and focus your energy on doing things for yourself. Taking this time is not only important to your mental health but also imperative to increasing your productivity when you return to the office. After a vacation, you are ready to focus your energy on fulfilling your position and effectively do so.

Get Out of Your Comfort Zone

Take the initiative over the summer to do things outside  your comfort zone—whatever that may be. Have you wanted to try a new sport or a new fitness class? Have you  been wanting to learn something new? Pushing yourself to try new things helps you recognize your potential and builds your confidence. Thus, when you return to the office, you are ready to think of creative solutions to issues that may arise and tackle projects that have proven challenging.

Organize

Take the time to organize your spaces. Get rid of stuff  taking up space, and limit your surroundings to the material things  you need or use on a regular basis. Clearing out your unneeded possessions helps you think clearly and avoid being consumed by clutter. As a result, your mind is able to focus attention on the tasks you must get done.

Set Time to Accomplish Your Goals

During the summer, set aside time to evaluate and accomplish your goals. Do you need to spice up your LinkedIn profile? Do you need to use LinkedIn to help a future job search? Do you need to build your network? Instead of saying, “I’m going to do x to achieve my goals,” actually plan time to do it and stick to it. Setting aside this time gives you the freedom to consider your future without feeling like you are constantly under pressure.
