Google and Facebook in talks with Twitter. This, according to the Wall Street Journal, which also questions the $10 billion value of Twitter with only 12% of Internet users when Facebook has 62% of Internet users and is valued at $50 billion.

Regardless of the monetary value of Twitter, this social media site is a valuable resource to all who utilize it. Although, the fact that it was only launched in 2006 and is now sporting a price tag in the billions should be a wake up call to those who have regarded Twitter as nothing more than an annoying tweet.

Twitter was launched 3 years after Linkedin and 2 years after Facebook but there is no question that it is one of the top three social media sites. Often misunderstood, Twitter is simply one of thousands of social media sites. What makes it stand out from all the others is “real time” information with an unlimited network, ease of use and over 200 million users!
